0:04 From the depths of the earth, through the shrouded mist, it is comingâ the final phase of Stargrow Video. Oh shit, again? What? What? No, you fucking believe this? It's fucking Oliver again.
0:47 I still don't know who the fuck he is, but his dead body keeps appearing on the fucking floor. Yeah, goddamn it. He had such great recommendations for everybody. I don't know how this is possible. I swear to God, once the cashier Crystal Lake took off for a week. Crystal Lake? But I didn't name her. Her mom named her that. No, I, I call her Crystal Leak because she getsâ she's in the pisser all the time. Yeah, yeah, just like Oliver. He's never gonna make it. No, he isn't. God damn it, dude, we gottaâ I'm not gonna clean up this fucking body again. God damn it. Do you think it has anything to do with the freaking Backrooms? I mean, it could be something from or to the backrooms. Hey, what's up? Hey, hey, hey, who the fuck's that? It's fucking Oliver again. He's dead again.
1:36 Yeah, remember, remember Oliver was dead? No, no, no, Jack, Jack, we went back to the time before he knew who Oliver was. I still don't know who the fuck Oliver is. Well, he's right here and he's dead again. We're not pressing any buttons though. Okay, no buttons. No, every time somebody pushes a button, something horrible happens. Something awesomely horrible happens. Yes, but we're not going to do that again. Um, I'm looking at the schedule for dayâ for today. Oliver's not obviously going to be working because he's dead. It says, uh, both Mike and Dave are here, but Mike has like this red line drawn under him. What? Yeah. I still haven't seen Dave in like 2 weeks.
2:18 Wait, yeah, well, you know, Daveâ wait a minute, yeah, you're right, because I, I've been busy with, you know, the stocking and all this kind of stuff and working the register since Crystal Leak is pissing in the bathroom, putting up the spooky season sign, which if you take a look has gotten gigantic. It's really the whole back aisle of the store now. Yeah, yeah, that pretty much takes up the whole wall. God damn it, man, we have to get the Haunted Isles thing going for today, for, you know, the Halloween attraction that we have at the store. Andâ ah, goddamn it. The good news is we can use him as an animatronic in theâ like, if you plug him into that half-beaten-up robot bear in the back. Yeah, can I weekend Bernies him? Would it be Five Nights at Oliver's? Is thatâ is that what you're thinking? Well, couple hours at least. Yeah, maybe one before he starts decomposing and stinking up the place.
3:12 This sucks. Iâ weâ Crystal's notâ not in, obviously, because Oliver's here dead. God damn it. Iâ you know what, do you guys think that Dave might be in the back rooms? Um, I am now. Iâ did you look? No, I haven't looked, but Brandon? Yeah? We're gonna all go back there together. Okay, put your hand through that wall that you did before when we, we heard that pounding from Michael. Yeah, because maybe, maybe he's back there too, because I don't know what the lion shit is. But let's go, let's go to the back rooms. Go ahead, go ahead, put your hand through and see if we can go through that, that one right there, that wall. Okay, that's right. Yeah, the one that's right next to the last Boy Scout poster, that one. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, it'sâ my hand's still going through, so we'reâ yeah, I can, I can see that clearly.
4:08 I mean, you think I'm blind or something? I mean, I don't know. I am half blind, that's true. But maybe it's the one half that's watching. You went blind for like a week one time, so I wasn't sure. Well, they, they say if you keep doing it, you go blind, and I did, but it wasn't that that caused that. But, um, how about we, you know, let's just go through this goddamn psychotic place again. Is that Dave sitting there watching Halloween Resurrection 27 times? Do you think the Backrooms misremembered him and drew him poorly? Well, I mean, it would kind of look like Abraham Lincoln and Adam Driver. Okay, it kind of does. It kind of does. Trick or treat, fuckers! Hey, hey, that's That's my favorite line from that movie.
4:59 Sorry, mine's happy fucking holidays. When did you guys get here? Wait, is itâ are you actually Dave, or are you likeâ like, what is Dave backwards? Is it Evad? Evad? Are you Evad? No, not, not that I'm aware of. But that was a wrestler from WCW. I was gonna say it, but I didn't. Okay, you could have. I knew Nick was thinking it. Why do you think I knew it was Evad so fast? So, Ivan Smith, continue. No, is thatâ I don't know, but you called out sick, right? No, I went into the back rooms for a snack run, you know, because you can eat them, right? I mean, that was before we, we were gonna watch Stay Tuned, and like, I'm still ready to, to, you know, talk about that when youâ we already did that. We already did that.
5:46 How the fuck long has it been? It's been like a week, dude. It's been like 7 days. Yeah, Oliver died twice. I know you've never met him, but you haven'tâ oh, I did meet Oliver. Wait, you know Oliver? Oliver is the reason he's inâ I'm the reason Oliver's in the store. Why the fuck don't I know? This is my store. I fucking own this store and I don't know who Oliver is. Oliver had a dog named Tiger as well. Okay. No, no question. I just picked up on something that Dave said. What? He said that he's the reason Oliver is in the store now. Yeah, Oliver's dead right now. Oliver's dead? Yeah, he, he was dead last week. Wait, it's coming back to me. Wait, okay, so hang on, hang on. So I, I know that I went into the back rooms, I got a snack to get some snacks, right? I remember coming back and then I joined a reality show in the Michael Myers house.
6:44 Um, for a company called Dangertainment, right? Um, and then all I remember is Michael, uh, throwing me down a shaft after I had seen him stabbing somebody violently. What? Was that Oliver? Was he stabbed violently? Oh yeah, yeah, he was slaughtered. Okay, Iâ because it took me likeâ I, I mean, it must have been a week And then I just saw that Halloween Resurrection was playing and I was like, you know, I'm tired. I'm just gonna relax and watch this movie and watch, you know, Michael Myers be a crispy, you know, Kentucky or crispy fried motherfucker or whatever he calls him. And I was just enjoying that. I was actually watching the deleted scenes, enjoying those. So, and then you guys came up. Man.
7:36 So Michael killed Oliver twice, and Iâ that shit last week said, oh, I don't know anything, I don't know who Oliver is. So he was lying. So he, heâ next, all diversion. Then he tried to frame Dave. Right, right now all I know, like, I can't tell the difference between Michael and Michael Myers because I've been watching Halloween Resurrection so many times. So you're gonna have to Fill me in on that. I will, Dave. I have toâ I have an apology for you because I was insinuating last week that you possibly killed Oliver because you called out, but that's my bad. I'm sorry, Jack. Let me be straight with you. You can be gay, it's cool.
8:19 If I was gonna murder somebody in the store, everyone would know about it. Well, we do all know that Oliver's dead. We know Oliver's dead, yeah, but what happened last week is Oliver died Brandon, for some reason, pressed a red button under a register. You know, he just decided, oh, let me press buttons and see what happens. And he did that by management. I don't recall that, but you press the button and then all of a sudden we went into like this weird multi-podcast thing. And then we came back and then Oliver was missing. And then I come in today and Oliver's dead. So, okay, we're gonna have to make a sacrifice. Guys, okay, there's 4 of us right here in this room.
9:00 There was 4 of us here before. We heard a pounding on the wall. We brought Michael into the store. Michael was with us. He did a couple screenings. He did the Backrooms screening, uh, miraculously of course. Then we did Out of Bounds. Then we did Stayâ his pick, Stay Tuned. All right guys, let's make it a collective decision here. Come on in, Brandon, Dave. All right, huddle, huddle, huddle, huddle. This is ourâ all right, we're huddling. We have these on the side sometimes. Okay, do you guys think that we need to get in the time machine that only Nick and I know about? Okay, no, no, no, it's, it's Uncle Huey's time machine. We're gonna get back into Uncle Huey's time machine and I think what we should do is go back to the very first staff meeting, and then we'll act like it was before, before Michael came into it. Because if he's killing people, or maybe it's like an alternate version of Michael that's killing people, we don't need that in the store. I don't need that dead body over there.
10:08 So I thinkâ well, and if he's in the Backrooms, maybe we can seal off the Backrooms. We could. It'll close itself. I've beenâ and And then we don't have to worry about it. Yeah, I've been meaning to get the Arrow Video display and just like put it there so this way nobody can go through that because everybody wants those movies. So, all right, let's do that. Okay, okay, okay. I'm, I'm for the time travel. Let's fix this. This timeline sucks. It does. I don't like it. I don't like it. So here we go. What we're gonna do is we're gonna go back to episode 1 again when we did the, uh, the, the staff meeting and everybody was talking about what, you know, what movies they like and all that kind of stuff. So in between Dave and you, we're gonnaâ I'm gonna interject myself there again, and then we're just gonna act like Michael's not there. Okay. And then when we come back to the store More than likely Oliver will not be there because ever since Michael's been here, this whole Oliver thing has happened. So that's gonna kill that timeline.
11:18 So I think let's do that. Okay, so like when we get there, the first thing you're gonna have to do when all this is settled is draw me a fucking picture of where I am in time because I don't understand. You're gonna be in the present when weâ when we get to the Episode 1, that's going to be in the past, but then we're going to leave episode 1 and then we're going to be in episode 10. So in actuality, if you think about it, we're just adding a 0 to, to episode 1 to make it episode 10. Just do it fast. Okay, I'm going to do it. Here we go. Nick, that was very insightful. Thank you so much. Edit.
12:01 All right, well, I guess Dave, you're next. Yeah, yeah, see, squirrels in the trees, they make the cookies. They're, they're like usually chocolate filled. Brandon? Yeah, yeah? Can you smack Dave for me? Ah! Thank you. What the fuck are you talking about, guys? We have toâ it's called, it's called patter, Jack. We have, we have a Haunted Isles attraction and we have to put that shit together. We have to get all the people in here. We have to get Crystal Leaks. She'llâ she probably won't scare anybody. She'll be in the bathroom pissing for the entire night.
12:50 But do we have an aisle set up of just all copies of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake? Because that's pretty terrifying. No, no, no, I, I remember I put all the stock in the back, so now all the aisles are like the, the staffâ well, you know, volunteers I should say, not staff. Weird with staff. But the volunteers are jumping out to scare the patrons that come through. So it's like all the haunted aisles with allâ that's why I got them all with cobwebs and stuff. We have to make sure that it's working. It's like an actual haunted attraction in the store. And then after everybody leaves, I'll put all the shit back. Don't worry, you guys can go home again, but I'll justâ I'll get Crystal and her friends toâ and the volunteers to put all the, uh, stuff back on the shelves. Cool, cool. Okay, in the meantime, we have to pick staff picks because it's Halloween, isn't it?
13:38 Yeah, fuck, we've beenâ we've been dicking around with fucking time machines, buttons, and stuff. All right, yeah, we gotta doâ we want to murderâ spooky season banner up, you know? Yeah, well, ever since that spooky season's banner has been up, things have been off-kilter. I think it's ever since you spoke out against the spooky season banner. I'm gonna argue it's that one. You know what, you might be right. You might be. Nick, I apologize. I, I am so sorry about the spooky season thing. It's a shame Michael's no longer on the show, or I could go, look at banner, Michael, but nobody gets that joke anyways. That's like 10-year-old show. That's fine. Um, so how about weâ 20-year-old show? Oh my God, what year is it? It's, it's right now it's 2026.
14:21 We're gonna have to talk about the staff picks that we are choosing while the Haunted Isles thing is going on. That's the onlyâ because we wereâ we should have done it earlier, but we had a dead body. Oh wait, Oliver, hang on a second. Awesome. Okay, he's not here. All right, so don't hire him if he comes in, please. No, let's not. All right, now let's put one foot in front of the other and put the other foot down, down, down, down, down. Oh hey, welcome back to the store. Uh, sorry for the loud screams and noises, that's the Haunted Isles thing that we have going on. Uh, we're, we're actually talking about staff packs right now if you want to join us. Um, you know what, let's do that. Come on over. All right, so, uh, we need more grapes. Do we have more grapes?
15:18 I mean, witch's eyes, kids are eating them. Are they eating them after they put their hands in the bowl? Dude, it's gonna be like some sort of, you know, health hazard, I'm sure. I would not put my hands in that hole. Have you ever seen a child? Have I ever seen a child? No, I, I, I come from a land of adults only. I've never seen it. What do children look like? Well, it sounds hot, but not the children part, the adults only part. When you say hot, you mean tropical, right? Tropical. Listen, the point is these grapes haveâ most of them are gone. The water that's in there with the crepes is full of like kid hand crud. Oh, they probably picked their boogers. And from hell, I don't even want to know what they're picking. They can't help themselves.
16:04 Neither can I. Speaking of picking, Brandon. Hey, what's going on? Give me 3 of your Halloween staff picks. Your favorite Halloweenâ or yeah, whatever. Well, geez, if I'm going favorite, I, I guess it would be Halloween, but I don't want to be on the nose with that. I have to go with a kind of forgotten childhood classic with Ernest Scared Stupid. I hate your guts. Like, people talk about Hocus Pocus a lot and it's like, oh, it's like the quintessential '90s Halloween movie. And I don't know, I just think it's a little overdone. Kind of like A Christmas Story. Like, I like A Christmas Story, but it's been kind of played out.
16:52 I feel like Ernest Scared Stupid deserves a little more recognition, especially for like a kids Halloweenâ for kids, yes. Yeah, for adults, absolutely not. Yeah, well, there's so many kids in the store right now, I figured a child pick would be a good choice. Yeah, okay, that makes sense. I don't hate you anymore. Uh, I'll go with a not so child-friendly one in Clown House. That's notâ that's not so child-friendly for multiple reasons we're not going to discuss. Yeah, by that piece of shit that made Jeepers Creepers that we don't speak his name.
17:34 Um, the movie itself though, I think, is like pretty decent. It's got some things going for it. Uh, it's another kind of like olderâ jeez, sorry, come on. All the screams and stuff are getting to me. It's fucking annoying. Go on. But, uh, yeah, I think Clown House is one that kind of, you know, even it's got the troubled past, maybe it's better that it's forgotten, I guess, because of the backstory with it. But I don't know, it's It's entertaining still. Oh, I know when, when people pick it up from the shelf, they're, they're gonna be like, what the fuck is this doing here?
18:16 And we only have one copy of that, and that's, that's an out-of-print, uh, disc that's never gonna see the light of day again for good reason. Um, so maybe somebody will pick it up. And yeah, it's a good idea, put it up as staff pick, and then maybe Maybe somebody will pick it up and just take it forever. Yeah, we don't have to see it again. Yeah, they'll make a lot of money off it. Shit, maybe I should put it up on eBay. There you go, that's probably the best way to go. Uh, my last one is Haunt, which the first time I saw that was on Joe Bob's Last Drive-In, and I thought it was done fairly well. I, I guess that kind of like subgenre of people getting killed off at a haunted attraction is of beaten into the ground now. It's been done plenty of times, but I mean, that was one of the first ones and it was done the best, I thought, right? I thinkâ who was it? The guys that made that madeâ they're the ones that wrote like, um, was it A Quiet Place and Heretic? I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I think you're right.
19:13 Yeah, which are both great movies, by the way. Well, I mean, Heretic is great. Uh, Quiet Place is good. Yeah, not, not Exorcist 2: The Heretic. No, no, no, no, no, no. Heretic with, uh, with Hugh Grant. That's a really good movie. Definitely recommend that one. Yeah, but wow, that'sâ yeah, I like Pawns though. I thought it was good. The only thing I didn't like about that was the, the button at the end of the movie. Yeah, I was kind of like, okay. But other than that, I thought it was a really good movie and, uh, very violent and fun and very Halloweeny. Very Halloweeny indeed. Yes. All right, well, thanks. Uh, Nick, how do youâ you're Mr.
19:55 Halloween, Mr. Spooky Season. Sure, I know about it. Yeah, I've been there. I didn't remember the movie Haunt until I just heard it and thought about it and went, oh yeah, I remember that one. Completely implausible. But if you start thinking like that about movies, you're probably not gonna like any of the movies we mentioned. Yeah, right now, um, for me, I'm going to name several movies from probably one of my, if not my favorite horror franchise, uh, which is ever since back 15, 14 years ago when we were podcasting, uh, in our, in our youths, uh, the VHS movies have been some of my favorite. And, um, I wanted to name some of, uh, the segments from them that, that feel kind of Halloweeny.
20:40 And also If I'm going to just say, hey, only watch 3 of these movies, um, well, I'll tell you which ones. Because back in the beginning, there were like 2 movies that immediately shot up to my favorite movies list and favorite horror movies overall. Even not, not overall, there's a few ahead of them, but VHS 1 and VHS 2 are just like back-to-back classics. I love them both. I think they're fantastic found footage anthology pieces, uh, that are just totally great and smart. And then we got VHS Viral, which was not as good. And then the series went away for 7 years. And since 2021, we get a VHS movie every year. It's like a little present.
21:21 Um, yeah, they've been on Shudder the past couple of years. And, uh, this year's movie was Mixtape, which is about in the middle of the series. Earlier today, I saw a tweet on Twitter. Yes, I call it Twitter, not x.com, because I'm a grown-ass man. Um, and it was somebody posting like their reviews of the first 3 movies and they're like, I'm working my way through this franchise, there must be a good one at some point, right? And I was like, you know what, let's just block this guy. We ain't got time for the arguing online anymore. We'reâ I'm old, I can't keep doing this. So, um, yes, I will block you if you say the VHS movies are bad. Test me, um, on Twitter. Uh, who am I there? I don't know, wherever you want to be. I literally forgot my own, uh, you know, fucking thing on there. Anyway, uh, so yeah, um, anyway, some of the greatest segments are Halloween-centric, uh, such as in, um, VHS 1, there's a segment that's just called 10/31/98 where people find themselves in a house of horror, and, uh, it's really just a nightmare put on film is how I described it. Once. Yeah, it was. And, um, I thinkâ was that my quote that ended up on the foreignâ the poster for VHS 2? What was my quote that ended up on theâ do you remember that?
22:38 Yeah, that was the one that, uh, something about like at the end of the movie you wanted to stand up and applaud. It was something like that, I think. And like, and this is honest, this is true, this is not just a part of the showâ one stupid thing I said on an old podcast of of ours ended up on one of the advertisements for VHS. So I guess, uh, I'm, uh, I'm, I'm not just biased because of that. I really do like these movies. But also, uh, throughout VHS 2, I think that there's several great segments that are spooky and weird. Slumber Party Alien Abduction, of course, uh, which was then made into its own movie, Kids vs. Aliens, um, uh, made by, uh, what's his name, the guy who was like What?
23:18 Jason Eisner. Yeah, yeah, Jason Eisner, the, the wrestling, uh, Dark Side of the Ring guy, um, and also Hobo with a Shotgun. But later on, um, I feel like the quality of the series has been kind of up and down, but one, uh, installment that was really great was last year's, uh, which is VHS Halloween, where all of the segments are Halloween themed. And, um, I really feel like that one stands on, uh, shoulder to shoulder with the original 2. Whereas mostly, like, I pretty much have fun with every VHS movie, but last year's was like really great. There's some good stuff in there, like, um, uh, theâ I mean, just like every one of them, but I think of Home Haunt a lot, the last one where a guy's home haunt, uh, you know, much like our Isles of Terror here today at the store Uh, the, the thing comes alive and like the witches break loose and ride around on their brooms and stuff, and it's fantastic.
24:19 And, um, there were some other segments in there that were really great. Um, I'm trying to think of the name of the last one, or the name of the other one that I really like. It's the oneâ oh no, Fun Size! How could you not love Fun Size? Yes, made by the guy, uh, what's his name? Casper Kelly. Casper Kelly. Yeah, who made Buddy, which just came out, right? Am I right on all this? Yeah, too many, too many cooks and, um, Yule Log 1 and 2. Dave, you enjoy this, man. Did you see that? Yes, I did. I really do enjoy it. Yeah, I thought that was great. So, um, those are my picks. You can watch those and they have like a good spooky feeling throughout, but especially like some of them do give off more of a Halloween vibe than others, but I appreciate the autumnal treat. I don't know if we'll get one next year because of the, uh, legal poop they stepped in, but that's their problem, right? So, uh, Jack, behind you, behind you, these kids.
25:19 Jesus Christmas! Holy Jesus! Goddamn holy jumping Jesus Christmas shit! You can't be doing that in here. Goddamn it, fucking get out of here! Scared the shit out of me. Is that, is that all your picks? Yeah, yeah, 3. That was 3 movies that are Halloweeny. Go. Oh, speaking of weenies, Dave. Yes, what are your, uh, picks, young man, for Halloween? So I, yeah, I picked a couple here. Um, I didn't want to be as basic as Brandon and just say Halloween, so, uh, I thought about it and I was like, I'm gonna pick something that's not the the first Halloween, even though that would be like a top pick, uh, and say Halloween III, uh, would be my number one on that, on, on my picks, just because it's a beautifulâ it's, it's so good. It's such a good like mystery.
26:11 It's such a good horror movie. It's aâ it gets you in a Halloween mood with that damn jingle, which is so damn catchy, and I love it. I don't know what else I can, uh, what else I can say about it. You should watch it. And if youâ I will say, as a kid, I did avoid it because it didn't have Michael Myers in it, and I didn't watch it until I was an adult. So don't be like me. Have you read the novelization? No. It's terrific. It is terrific? Yes, it's very good. I might have to check that out. The other one I have is, uh, WNUF Halloween Special. We, we talked about this on SlasherCast back in the day, and I, I think I've only watched it once since SlasherCast, but I really do love how well they nail that local, you know, local news aesthetic mixing it with found footage, uh, you know, found footage horror. I think it justâ I don't know, and at times it's it's hilarious because it just captures that local news, anything can happen kind of vibe.
27:22 I gotta agree with Dave too. Like, I think it's like almost like we were talking about with Stay Tuned. It's like you had to have lived through that era of television to understand what's that, how perfectly recreated it is, right? Like, like it really reminds me of probably some local stuff that I watched in like Philadelphia. Um, just like local productions. Evenâ I don't even know if there was like a Halloween production that they ever made, but just, I remember just like, you know, local like news reporting and stuff like that, and people are just being weird. And then itâ and then it becomes a really, you know, interesting kind of found footage horror. So check, check out WNUF Halloween Special. Um, and then the third one I picked was actuallyâ I, I decided to just go for a movie that takes place on Halloween that may not necessarily be a horror movie. Uh, well, it's not a horror movie. Um, it's The Crow.
28:11 It's the original Crow. Um, takes place on technically on Devil's Night, but, um, really like the aesthetic of this movie. Obviously Brandon Lee, you know, died making the movie. Um, I just think it's a, it's a cool gritty '90s action movie that, you know, there's some really cool character acting in it. Ernie Hudson's in it, and I don't know that he's necessarily the part of the cool character acting, but, you know, he's still pretty good at it. Uh, and I just, I just enjoy watching it, and it does take place, uh, on and around Halloween. And, uh, I just wanted to pick one non-horror if someone didn't really want to watch a horror movie on Halloween. Well, thanks, Dave. Yeah, no problem. Hang on, hang on one sec.
28:55 Hey, hey, don't, don't touch that spooky season banner. I will end you. Oh my God. Yeah, I think Nick will end up first. If you make Nick run, I will laugh. Jack, Jack, why don't you explain your costume first before you, uh, tell us your picks? Oh Christ, I'm sorry. Um, I am, uh, Angela from Sleepaway Camp 2. Yeah. I mean, itâ the, the whole thing is like, uh, papier-mâché and extremely inappropriate. Well, it is, but I mean, I just had to go against the grain because you haveâ you know howâ and why I don't want to spoil it for, for this one here because I don't think they saw it. But yeah, you know how much I love Pamela Springsteen. Same thing, right?
29:54 We're aware. Yeah, but there's going against the grain and then there's like just like, like, I don't know, suicide diving into the grain. Well, I don't even know. Brandon, what the fuck are you dressed as? I'm dressed as Vicki from Small Wonder. See, I guess we were going with a girl vibe tonight, but I'm stillâ I can'tâ I don't want to spoil it, but yeah, Vicki from Small Wonder. It makes sense now that I see it, that you say it. Okay, yeah, well, we, we know what Dave is. Is that, is that why you were picking up a couch earlier? Yeah, with one hand. Yeah, okay, it's a good prop. I like it. So, Nick? Yeah, what the fuck are you? Oh, I'm the, uh, cover of, um, the Marvel comic from 1975, Giant-Size Man-Thing. I admit it sounds almost as inappropriate as your costume. I think man isn'tâ man thing isn't that he's supposed to be in that movie we're going to be watching tonight. Yeah, yeah. What are your picks? My picks?
30:58 Damn it. Jesus, that was so fucking loud. Why do people gotta scream like that? Because you made them scared. Like, oh yeah, I know, I get it. But you invite people in Do you think screaming like that's a little performative though? You know, like a little bit. But also, you know, then there's me that doesn't like scream at anything when I go to a haunted house, and I feel like an asshole, but I kind of just appreciate the artistry, and I'm just like, good job. I give them thumbs up and stuff like that. So there's 2 types of asshole in, in the horror, you know, in the haunted house. And that, that is why that Dave is dressed as a golden retriever right now, because from Air Bud to golden receiver. Exactly. Yeah, yeah, that'sâ we knew that.
31:39 Uh, so, okay, I, I just wanted to make sure you saw the football helmet and that didn't think I was some fucking basketball golden retriever. All right, first movie that I'm putting on my staff pick shelf is a movie that I did not really want to see. I thought it was going to be stupid even though I like Devon Sawa, and that is Idle Hands. When I watched that movie for the first time, I was like, here we go, this is gonna suck, but I'm still gonna watch it. And right awayâ I know, kitty cat, I know, go, go over there, they're scared of black cats. Okay, um, but Idle Hands, right from the very beginning, is justâ it's, it's a real horror movie at the beginning, and it's a real fun horror movie. Uh, I don't know, has anybody seen Idle Hands? Yeah, it's been a while, but my old neighbor taped it for me one time off, uh, TV. We reviewed it back on the, uh, Jack and Nick Show. I think it might have been one of our first episodes on our other podcast, Jack and Nick Show. And, uh, I enjoyed it nearly as much as, uh, you did, where I was totally surprised by what it really was. So yeah, it, it, it is a surprise. There are some people that don't like it, but they need to get a life. But the one scene in particular, not because of the honka honka with the hand on the breast for Kelly Monica's, uh, breast as she's dressed as the KISS person, but when I heard New York Groove being
33:10 blasted with 2 people and a girl getting the honka honka from the, from the severed hand. In case you don't know what Idol Hands is, it's about a guy, a kid whose hand gets possessed, and then he cuts it off and then goes around killing people. All right, so my next pick is a newer flick that doesn't get enough love. Some people hate the last, uh, act of this, and rightfully so, because it's very CGI heavy. The creature of this is CGI. But that movie is Cobweb, and it has so such a greatâ it's a Halloween movie, uh, it has such a great fall feeling, Halloween feeling.
33:53 Uh, there are a couple characters, one character in particular, and it's like, they're okay. Um, but the parents are great. Uh, what's his name from, uh, Homelander is the, uh, Antony Starr. Yeah, he's, he's the dad. And, um, the one, uh, girl that looks like my, uh Looks like my, uh, my girlfriend, uh, what's her name, uh, Lizzy Caplan. She's, she's the mother. So you got those 2 and then this kid, and then this kid is hearing this, um, he's in this house and he's hearing these whispers coming from the wall, um, like, you gotta help me, you gotta help me, your parents are crazy, and all this kind of stuff. And that's all I'm gonna say, um, I don't want to spoil the movie. It's I was actually surprised by it. It's one of those movies though that I would suggest watching with the lights out, headphones on if you have the means to it, or with a good sound system. It has some like really jarring fun moments in it. Um, it's a dark movie, uh, but it's a lot of fun, so I definitely recommend that. And my final pick, which I think everybody here is going to absolutely agree with me for a wonderful Halloween movie that is not horror, including my cat.
35:11 The Guest. I had that on my, uh, my backup in case any of you named my name. So yeah, I agree. Yeah, I'm shocked you didn't pick Haunted Ween. You know, I, I, I was going to, but then I was afraid one of you guys would make a joke about a penis, right? Because we're the ones making ween jokes. You literally just made one like 7 minutes ago, right? You're out of papier-mâché. Well, I mean, I had to pick 3. There'sâ well, Haunted Ween is aâ it's an acquired taste, okay? And I'm the one that can acquire that movie and taste it and enjoy it. You taste the ween? I taste the ween. It'sâ it tastes like avocado from what I heard.
35:52 Nobody like that one, okay? Uh, nope. I had a silent laugh where I was gasping for air for a second. There are times you make jokes, I just want to do that, like the whistling from Hook when they're likeâ when he makes a bad comeback. I appreciate the silence and I enjoy the silence. But anyway, The Guest, I'm gonna say, is a tremendous movie. It's one of Dan Stevens' best performances. It's one of Adam Wingard's best movies. Uh, Micah Monroe is fantastic, and it's such a fun, fun movie. Uh, and it also ties into Halloween III because the masks are in the, uh, the haunt in the gym in that movie. But getting back to Hauntedween, why did you want me to pick Hauntedween, Brandon? I just assumed you were going to. Wow.
36:42 Because when I watched it, I was texting you. I think, I think I said, what, Hauntedween is a bad title? Like, was Possessed Cocked? Notâ it's not already taken. I think that'sâ that is what you said. Yeah, I just didn't want you to say that joke again ever. Well, I just did, so there you go. All right, well, anyway, um, I getâ Jack, what? We closing? Yeah, it's aboutâ you've been in the bathroom for like what? How long has she been in the bathroom for? Like 3 hours? Fucking Crystal. No, I'm not fucking Crystal. I don't fuck my employees. Except for Dave. Except for Dave.
37:25 Dave's silence is killing me. No, he's weaponized it. When we gonna watch a movie? Soon. Fucking performance streaming bastards screaming like banshees. Anyway, uh, I getâ well, what are you doing? Did you not hear them? Hmm? Iâ oh, I heard them. Oh, okay. Um, yeah, we're gonna watch the movie after the haunt is over. That's gonna beâ what time is it now? It's like 10 o'clock. Shit, we'reâ it's 10:05.
38:08 We're, we're overtime. All right, we gottaâ we gotâ we don't need to speed up. Let's slow down so we get more overtime. It costs you more money. Yeah, but see, that's you complaining. Anything you say, you are the owner. I'm not complaining. It's a noise ordinance thing. The police will be here. We are the proletariat and you are the bourgeoisie here. Wow. But then when the police come in, the state will be here and, you know, they'll start fighting and Steve Borden will come. Yeah, well, there we go, back to The Crow. Yeah, he'll come in, he'll come in with his haunted meme. Yeah, all the, all the elements of the French Revolution truly are in this store at this time. I'm really glad that we put together this haunted aisles thing.
38:51 There are, there are no other video stores that do this, but we, we do. You could have stopped the sentence that there are no other video stores. No, there are though. There's, there's the Archive. They have one in Minneapolis they just opened up. So there. And there's also a fuckingâ the guy that was in Tampa, he's inâ he never moved to Tennessee and shit. It's a Grindhouse video. I heard there's a local one somewhere in Chicago. I don't know the name. Well, I don't know what it is. They just got old crappy videotapes. Oh yeah, no, we have the good stuff. We got the good shit here. I gotta take a Crystal Lake-sized piss here, so I'm gonna walk away.
39:39 He's gonna drain his haunted weed. Future presentation. It's spooky season! Hey, it's your favorite guy Nick, and I'm hosting the screening this week here at Stargrove Video. We're gonna go into the screening room. This movie is a Halloween special, and Iâ it's barely even a horror movie really. It's actually a Marvel movie. Wait, don't Sit down, sit down. I see you're trying to turn off the show because you thought we'd never do a Marvel movie on this one, but we're doing it. And it is Werewolf by Night, a movie based on the Marvel comic character Werewolf by Night, kind of, sort of. And it is about a bunch of strangers go to a manor to collect a special prize but have to do a monster hunterâ a big monster hunt thing to go get it. And Let's go watch the movie. It's only on Disney Plus, I think. Maybe it's elsewhere. It might be on the high seas, wink, or elsewhere.
40:53 Uh, Werewolf by Night, go! You can't escape the shock, the terror of Werewolf by Night. Tonight it is every hunter for themselves. Good luck. I'll be rotting for you. But one of you is a monster masquerading as one of our own. I can't wait to find out what breed of evil you are.
41:35 See this, darling? Please don't do this. Death is coming for you. Werewolf by Night. Wow, wow, we watched the movie. 54 minutes, I believe, of, uh, gothic horror pulpy nonsense. Now I brought this movie to the show because it came out a couple of years ago during, uh, me and Jack's hiatus on our Jack and Nick Horror Show, and I never got a chance to actually discuss it.
42:28 Um, I, I kind of love this movie in a way. I, I kind of love it. It's, it's clearly flawed and I have a lot of criticisms for it, but, um, it's a movie I enjoy. Um, like I said, it is, uh, very much the simple story. A bunch of monster hunters are gathering after a famous monster hunter, Ulysses Bloodstone, has died and he is going to leave his greatest treasure, the magical Bloodstone, to whoever wins at the great funeral ceremony ritual hunt that he is holding post-death. But also he's kind of there because he appears as an animatronic corpse that introduces everyone to the game.
43:14 I like this movie because not only is it unlike any other Marvel movie, and yes, it's actually a part of the MCU, but does not mention or reference it very much at all except for like maybe once at the beginning. But, um, it is, it is not just unlike any Marvel movie, it's unlike any movie that comes out today at all. It, it's a pulpy gothic horror themed adventure movie, and it's kind of an experiment and a throwback. And, and the movie is black and white. We watched the black and white version. There's also a color version which also really looks great. But I think the black and white version wins when you put them both together.
43:55 And it'sâ compared to other Marvel movies, like I said, it's detached from the universe. It is not here to set up a franchise. It is just a movie. It's not setting up the next movie with a hidden ending. It's not doing anything that is annoying in that way where, especially with a lot of recent modern Marvel movies in the past 5 or 6 years since Endgame, they, they are constantly like setting up the next movie instead of just being their own movie. And this one is, and it's, it's not just its own movie, it's in its own like special genre. It doesn't look like any modern movie that comes out right now. Um, I think that it's got pretty good CGI throughout. It's not like obstructive to your viewing pleasure.
44:41 It doesn't take you out of the movie. The CGâ there's CGI, but it's not like I struggle to think of any CGI in the movie that I think is bad. The whole look of the movie is fantastic. It has a lot of style that has just been drained of modern movies. I, Iâ you almost struggle to think about how this really got made. And I mean, just because, like, who okays this kind of movie these days? A black and white silly nonsense horror action movie, right? Um, and it mimics classic horror movies. I would say, like, takes pieces and elements of movies from the '40s to the, to the '60s and around that era, uh, before things became much more, uh, like gritty in the '70s. And I mean, obviously it is kind of a throwback to the 1942 Wolfman movie. Reminds me a lot of House on Haunted Hill, the original.
45:33 And, um, I guess I would also say theâ it has like elements of earlier Hammer Horror movies before they got real good, um, when you go back and watch the kind of junky ones. But I kind of like that there's junky stuff in this. Uh, it's got a spooky atmosphere. It's great to watch spooky season because it's about a bunch of people going up to a dark manor to go on a monster hunt. How is that not something fun to watch at Halloween, even if it's not specifically a Halloween movie? But it is a Halloween special, which, my God, we do not get enough of these at all, I assume. I mean, I don't watch like terrestrial network television anymore, but who the fuck does? But even like, you know, never on, on, uh, streaming shows, there's not a whole lot of like holiday specials at all, especially Halloween. Like, I guess you get the Joe Bob one on Shudder every year, but I could really do with a lot more Halloween specials.
46:28 And, um, I kind of wish that this would have turned into like a Halloween series where they do a different one every year, but they did not. Um, and so my criticisms for this movie starts with the, the plot and pacing itself, which I guess makes it sound like it's pretty strong. Not really though. The movie clocks in at a merciful 54 minutes. There are obviously big cuts surrounding that though. It's heavily edited, such asâ did you realize we did not learn the names of the characters in the movie, like when they all gather in the manor? This is not a rhetorical question. Did you guys actually realize that, that like they don't even name the characters in the movie beyond like, uh, the Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone, and a few others? Absolutely.
47:19 Yeah, I feel like there was supposed to be a scene when they all gather and they should beâ and they kind of do quick introductions like, this guy's got 50 kills, this guy's got 42. There probably should have been more of an introduction or getting to know the characters part in the beginning of the movie, you know. Um, also they do do a little bit of the cutesy Marvel stuff here, whichâ by which I mean taking a character and giving them a silly name, and, uh, it's kind of there. So yes, Man-Thing, as I said, Giant-Size Man-Thing earlier, is in the movie. He's the monster they're hunting. Big spoiler there, huh? It's in like the first half hour of the movie. It's not a spoiler.
47:59 Itâ movie's only 54 minutes. You can't spoil anything. There's a werewolf in this movie too. Oh, uh, so anyway, Man-Thing is, uh, just called Ted and he acts like a big pal and stuff. And, uh, I, I mean, I understand not calling a character Man-Thing, I do, but, um, they, they kind of made it a little too cute for me there. And it's all right. Worst of all, the adaptation of Elsa Bloodstone in this is just awful compared to her comic book counterpart, especially likeâ like, I have kind of a soft spot for more Marvel horror books. I don't read a lot of them, uh, I guess. Or as a quick aside, I am talking about comic book nerd shit today, so I'm just gonna nameâ I love like Daredevil books, I love Iron Fist, um, I like Uatu the Watcher and read a lot of What Ifs. But I recently became really interested in Elsa Bloodstone when she was added to Marvel Rivals, where theyâ I'm a big Marvel Rivals fan. That's a video game.
48:59 They add a new character like every month, and it's like a bunch of fighting goes on in this game. And Elsa is an awesome character in this game. She is this like commanding British monster hunter woman who's just yelling at everybody. And she's real creative. She throws traps to catch people. She throws monsters at you. And she's just yelling the whole time. I wish I had made a clip of the game that I could throw to here and say, Jack, put it up on the big screen, but I forgot. And they take this really cool character. I started reading the books of her because of the game. Like, I'll just recommend a few that are also relevant to the movie. Bloodstone and the Legion of Monsters. And I just got recently Monsters Unleashed, Monster Mash, which also stars her. And she's just a cool character. I didn't know that she was a cool character because my first introduction to her was actually this movie, and she's just kind of bland and blank and there in the movie. And it's very weird that they didn't draw from the comics whatsoever.
50:04 And I mean, Marvel Rivals the video game completely blows that out of the water. Um, also, I'm happy with the werewolf in this, but it is a little more like Bigby from Wolf Among Us, the video game and, uh, uh, comics. I think those are the Fable or what they're called. Um, I, I feel like it's a little too close to the, uh, werewolf that is an ape, um, rather than a werewolf that is a big wolf. And for werewolf recommendation, I really like the werewolves of the, the Werewolf: The Apocalypse EarthBound video game. Those are probably my favorite werewolves.
50:44 They're likeâ and, and they're from the, the, uh, tabletop role-playing game that is adapted into that video game, The Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Uh, in fact, if, if you're a nerd out there and you've played it, the Krinos form of the werewolves where they are just 8-foot tall and have a giant wolf headâ I like my werewolves to have a snoot, you know, like a dog snoot. I'm talking about the face, nothing else. Uh, and I, I just like that a little bit better. Um, otherwise, the depiction of Jack Russell here as Werewolf by Night is more interesting than his comic book counterpart. I mean, it's pretty close because it's a lot of, I'm sad and lonely because I'm a werewolf and I gotta live in a castle alone or I'm gonna eat you all. Anyway, just my closing thoughts here. Uh, it's a shame that making Halloween specials on Disney+ didn't really work out because they gave up on theirâ they constantly like give up on their TV stuff, reboot their TV stuff, come up with a new TV stuff idea. And I really wish that they had done just a Marvel horror movie every year. Like, they could do Blade, they could do Ted the Man-Thing, Terror Inc., Marvel's versions of Dracula and Frankenstein, uh, or one of my new favorite charactersâ I'm going to talk about another comic book thing real quickâ Hollow's Eve, who was just sort of invented in 2023. I just got a trade paperback of her a little while ago. She is this character who's gifted a demonic tote bag full of Halloween masks, and when she puts on a mask from the bag,
52:15 she becomes whatever monster the mask is. So when she puts on a vampire mask, she becomes a vampire. When she puts on a ghost, she becomes a ghost. When she puts on a Frankenstein mask, she becomes a Frankenstein. And, uh, the funniest one of all, the biggest monster in the bag, is just a policeman mask. And when she puts it on, she becomes a police officer. Uh, so I, I mean, it would be cool to see a couple of episodes of Hallow's Eve, but we're not gonna get that, I guess. At any rate, Uh, Werewolf by Night is a land of contrasts. Uh, I, I enjoy it. I recognize that there's stupid shit in it, but I'm a big style over substance guy. I will like a movie because I find it stylistically cool, as you will hear me say throughout several of the other picks I will make on this show. Uh, it's a, it's a real Nick movie in that way, and, uh, therefore I enjoy it.
53:09 So who, who wants to go first? Raise your hand. Nick, are you a big Cy Snoodles fan since you like snoots so much? No, dog snoot on a werewolf. That's all. You don't even know who Cy Snoodles is, do you, Nick? I have no fucking idea what you're talking about. Dave, you go first. Tell me about Werewolf. Shut up. Thank you. I needed that. So Werewolf by Night, I, I did watch this when it first came out in black and white. I watched it the year later when the color version came out. Um, it's Michael Giacchino's, you know, uh, you know, as a composer, but it's his first directing role that he did. Um, I really do enjoy this movie. I, I do agree with Nick about the narrative is kind of lacking. It's not really memorable. But, you know, just watching it again now, I can appreciate all of the, all of the style, stylistic choices made.
54:14 The production design is great. It's very, it feels very much, it has that very old mansion, you know, feel, but you know, it's definitely on a set. So it definitely captures what a lot of those old horror movies tried to aim for. I think it's kind of funny that the Elsa Bloodstone character, that her martial arts abilities are kind of just like, well, it is a Marvel movie, so we're going to kind of have her be like, you know, move like Black Widow, or, you know, um, why can't I think of Black Widow's sister off the top of my head? But it doesn't matter. Um, the White Widow. No, it's not the White Widow. Well, it is the White Widow, but it's Yeah, Yelena. Thank you. I couldn't, I couldn't think of her name, but, um, but they, they kind of have that similar moving style. She even does like, uh, you know, one of those, uh, leg tosses, uh, you know, scissor, scissor throws, I guess. Flying head scissors. Yes, thank you. Luchadora. Yes, thank you. I, I just, um, it's escapedâ words are escaping me right now.
55:18 I'm calling her a luchadora, meaning like female lucha libre. Okay, go. I know what you mean. I know what you mean. But the people at home didn't. Anyway, I really, I do actually prefer that all the characters don't have names. It allows me to create a little bit more of my own backstory without getting too attached to them because this is only a 50-minute special and they are not going to be alive for that long. So I like that there's really only like 4 or 5 characters that actually have names to it. I actually would argue that I like the color version better, even though I do preferâ if you had to say, like, what, like, do you prefer Hammer Horror? Do you prefer the more classic, like, Universal-style black and white horror? I would prefer the Universal black and white style horror. But I just think they did a really good job with the muted tones of how they made it and how they color corrected this and made it look in color.
56:21 That I just, I don't know, I appreciated it a lot more watching it in color. It's solid. I think it's a really good Halloween special. You are only dedicating 50 minutes to this. So it's something where if you don't like it, you haven't really lost 2 hours of your life. You know what I mean? I think Michael Giacchino, I watched theâ I have seen the special that his brother made about the making of this, which is oddly enough also 50 minutes long. That is basically just talking about his firstâ it's made by Michael Cecchino's brother, uh, and they go into a lot of his history of where he was just making movies all the time as a teenager. And like, they have all kinds of clips from, you know, he made an Indiana Jones movie and he made a horror movie and he made like an action movie, like all these different things that he did. And it's a coolâ it's actually a cool little documentary just kind of talking about like that, you know, group of friends that he had that they just made, they made movies with in Edgewater Park, New Jersey.
57:24 I appreciate Michael Giacchino because he calls in regularly to the Philly morning show that I used to listen to, Preston and Steve. So I've heard a lot of different stories of him talking about how much he just loves these, all types of movies, but especially like these older horror and serialized stories. And you can just feel that with this movie. There is a lotâ I think it very much is a labor of love, which is why it sometimes happens that the people who are like masters of their craft, like a composer like he is, ends up making a movie that is a little bit narratively lacking. But, you know, it is 100% style over substance. But this is a great pick. I enjoyed it. And you can watch in black and white or color, whatever suits you. And I think you'll have a fun time.
58:17 All right, all right, which one of you two wants to go next and talk about the movie? It's either Brandon or Jack. Say a word that I'm thinking of. Brandon. Fuck, how did you do that? I was literally reading the word Brandon when that happened on his name tag. I'm really good. Well, you go ahead. All right, um, what the fuck are you talking for? Jack's the one that guessed it. The word Brandon was guessed, but you said my name. Jack said your name. You're not Joe Henry. Brandon, how about we go together at the same time? You ready? All right, Brandon, you start.
58:59 This is great. I'm glad everybody's so wrapped up. Hold on. Hold on, you're not gonna go at exactly the same time. Yeah, we are. Jack, you need to read the first word of your review, then Brandon, you read the first word of your review, then Jackie, read the second. No, we combine them and make one review. All right, Brandon, go ahead and start and I'll start with you. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yep. Fuck Jack. Okay, he got you so fast, man. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, but Jack is dedicated to the bit. He's more dedicated than he is hurt by it. So where were the little barbs when I was watching it, Nick?
59:40 No, you know what? No, Brandon, you go. Yes. Okay, are we sure? And, um, I'm Jack. Uh, sure does not work here anyway. Uh, first time watch for me. I I didn't even know this existed, and I'm kind of sad that I didn't know until just now because I really enjoyed it. Um, I guess if somebody would have put this on and I didn't see the bumpers at the beginning of it, I would have had no idea that it was Marvel because I'm really not steeped in the superhero lore like you guys are. Uh, I love the presentation of it. Yeah, even the, the opening title screen, it made me think of Universal Monsters movies, like the ones from the, the '40s. Uh, I mean, this has, this has music and stuff in it, which, I mean, some of the ones from the '30s were lacking a little bit, especially like Dracula.
1:00:41 Uh, definitely, like Nick said, there's a lot of strong Wolfman vibes in this, which I love because I love The Wolfman. That was a movie I kind of grew up watching. I also love the, um, the bright red contrast of the Bloodstone against the black and white of the rest of the film, at least in the black and white version that we watched. Uh, and I was like, oh man, that makes me kind of think of Wizard of Oz where Dorothy walks through the door and everything's like brightly colored, and then they played Somewhere Over the Rainbow at the end, and that kind of disappointed me because I was like, it's a little too on the nose, but I get what you're going for. Uh, yeah, it was nice and short, not, you know, wasting 2 hours of my time like Dave said, but, uh, it was action-packed.
1:01:37 And like, I like howâ I like how you don't really get a backstory with a lot of the characters. And you justâ I did like Dave did as well, where you kind of just like make up these names for yourself. And I was like, oh, we got the, the Irish guy or the Scottish guy or whatever he is. Uh, and then the main dude was, you know, obviously the, the werewolf, who I kind of thought at times his voice sounded like Tommy Wiseau, but a much better actor. You're laughing. So it kind of made me laugh like inadvertently that way. But yeah, this is definitely a movie that I would totally watch again and, you know, suggest people enjoy '40s and '50s monster movies. Jack, I'm back.
1:02:27 So your movie experienceâ my movie experience was I am very grateful to you, Nick, for picking a movie that is 52 minutes, because I think a lot of movies need to be 52 minutes. Honestly, yeah, just to get to the fucking good stuff and let's go. But sometimes I understand movies have to be long to go through a whole description or, you know, a whole bunch of shit. But anyway, um, this movie to me felt like Ready or Not and Werewolf by Night. Dude, that is aâ Ready or Not is, uh, one that I absolutely, uh, associate with this and was gonna mention and forgot to write it down. And there Jack is saying it. That's a great call.
1:03:12 Yeah, I'm not saying yeah, thank you. I mean, yeah, it's, it's my apologies, Nick. Um, but, uh, it also reminds me of Werewolf by Night, even though there'sâ they're not necessarily hunting a werewolf, they're hunting Man-Thing. Um, I thought that it was, um, reallyâ it kind of had that vibe, but also obviously the black and whiteness of it. I, I was absolutely in love. By the way, I know the director is the composer, but my God, man, the score of this movie is probably one of the better scores of any Marvel movie that exists.
1:03:55 It's beautiful. It's absolutely beautiful. I wasâ as I was watching it, I'm like, excuse me, who did the score? And I'm like, oh, it's the director. Oh, okay. Because the score is phenomenal. Absolutely, uh, one of the best I've, I've heard in quite some time. Um, but as far as the movie goes, uh, I thought that it was, it was enjoyable and it was cute, as you had said, Nick. It's, um, it's something that like I did feel like I was watching an older movie, which was obviously the aesthetic that they were going for. But it hadâ it was like a combination of everything, like, which I also appreciated, and all wrapped up in a little 52-minute button, which was nice to me. Um, it didn't really, uhâ as you were saying though about the characters where they don't reallyâ you don't really get to know anybody.
1:04:52 That's the only problem with the 52-minute thing. But at the same time, it's like, that's okay. Because they're all going to end up dead anyway, uh, so it's fine. Um, but I thought that, uh, I thought that the lead dude, the Jack Russell guy, was, was good. Um, the girl that played, uh, Bloodstone, I thought she was really good as well. Like, they, uh, bounced off of each other very well. Um, I really did like Man-Thing, and I like the cuteness in this one more so than a lot of other Marvel flicks where they start getting cute with their jokes and stuff like, like we do. Yeah, like, you know, it, it, it worked forâ but at, at first I was like, ah, goddamn it, no, we're not doing this. But I reallyâ I have this thing where, um, it's a man thing, but My thing is that whenever I see a creature like Man-Thing in this, for instance, or like a big hulking creature getting picked on or hunted as they are hunting in this, I feel bad for that creature, even if that creature was evil.
1:06:07 I always do. It's something weird about me with monsters in movies. But I was glad that, you know, he got spared and he was you know, he is Jack's friend, and it was something really cool and nice. And I was not expecting that to happen. Um, not that I used to read Man-Thing comic books or any of that, but, um, but yeah, I thought it was a very enjoyable movie. Definitely. Um, and you said this was only on Disney+ then? Yeah, I think so. I don't think that they physically released it or anything. It might, might have been on Prime at some point, right? Probably on Tubi, for fuck's sake. I, I, I don't think so. If it's Disney, it's definitely not going to be on Tubi.
1:06:52 But I thought it was, uh, I thought it was very enjoyable. That's what I'll say. Um, I just thought that it was, uh, I wasn't expecting what I got. What I was expecting when I was hearing Werewolf by Night is this guy's gonna get invited to this place like the, uh, uh, other film I had mentioned, uh, the, uh, what is it, The Beast Must Die. Like, this guy is a werewolf, he's gonna get invited to this hunting thing, and then they're gonna go after him. That's what I thought was gonna happen, but that's not what happened, which was cool. But when he werewolfed out and started taking out people, it was, it was quite cool. Uh, even though it was CG heavy, I didn't care.
1:07:37 It was, it was definitely cool. And it was nice to see a Marvel movie do something in the horror realm as well. And this does have a good Halloweeny feel. Uh, it has the little special, uh, the CBS special, uh, tag in the very beginning of it, which was neat. And, um, yeah, it definitely had a way more fun feel than most of the Marvel stuff that I've scene. So I like that. Yeah, yeah. So, um, it, it actuallyâ you know what's funny is that like it did remind me of The Beast Must Die too, which I had recently seen like around the same time that I first saw this movie. Oh wow. Um, and, uh, so it's weird that itâ you also thought of those, but it is like those movies. It is just a classic setup.
1:08:25 A bunch of people are called out to this, uh, manor and then something spooky happens. It could be fucking anything, and that's a good setup for anything. It doesn't even have to be spooky, like Ready or Not. It's, um, or even like Abigail. Abigail's another one. It's also ready. I love Radio Silence again. Yeah, and I, I love that movie. I think itâ I think if anything, that movie is very underrated. Like, it was much better than I could have ever expected it to be. But, uh, I thought it wasâ I'm also a vampire freak. Like, any movie with a vampire is an automatic A- or higher, I think, except for very few, uh, because I'm a nerd for shit like that. But, um, I really loveâ uh, one thing I love in this movie that would be edited out of any other movie and ruined any movie, not just Marvel, is the transformation scene itself in this movie is really fantastic, where, uh, Elsa and Jack Russell are in the, uh, the, uh, they're in this cage in a room, and as he's transforming and being shocked by like cattle prods He's starting to transform, and like the shot is a long, like 1 or 2 minute shot just on Elsa, like cowering in the cage as he starts turning into a werewolf. And you don't see him turn, you see the shadow turn behind him and grow into the werewolf while it just keeps zooming in on her and getting more and more terrified of him. Like, that is amazing.
1:09:47 And any fucking movie today would have like 17 cuts in those 2 minutes. You know, right? Um, and then this one, it's just this held shot and it's really great. Uh, I'm gonna cut to Dave because Dave probably appreciates that. Oh, definitely. It's me. I told you Dave appreciated it. It is because I think the big thing about it is they took the time to like just make a well-lit, well-composed shot and let it fucking live. Yeah, like just let it live. Like, you know, there's lots of things happening in that single shot, but they're just letting it happen. And you're seeing it from a forced perspective, which is usually the better way to do it with a horror movie anyway. You don't need to see, oh, everyâ like, like the hands and, you know, like the Joe Dante movie.
1:10:37 I'm not saying that's bad. But I'm saying like, we don't need to see that style in every single movie. Right? What am I thinking? The Howling. Yeah, because a lot of movies try to top that, you know? Yeah. And instead of topping that, they went, what if we just do something completely fucking different that nobody else is doing in movies these days? Yeah. And, and that'sâ and it, it throws back to that style when they didn't have those kind of effects, but it also just is really good filmmaking of let's just like, we don't need to show everything, we can just visually make a, you know allow you to fill in the gaps. We know that those things are happening and we can fill in the gaps. We've seen this enough where we can fill it in, right? Yeah, itâ Iâ that shot as well, for me, I thought was fantastic. Like, the, um, it's something that you would have seen in like the old days, like, because they didn't have the effects of that time. So they're going to go to shadows, kind of likeâ and they couldn't show a lot of stuff like that back then either. Like, um, what is it, the, the Val Lewton movie? I'm thinking of, uh, The Leopard Man. Like, somebody gets killed, or maybe it was Cat People, I can't remember, but somebody gets killed and it's one of the first movies that had the blood coming from under the door and the person's just seeing the blood coming from under the door. I think it was Cat People. Was it Cat People? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:12:06 Leopard Man and Cat People, to me, like the old ones, are just likeâ the, the Kinski Cat People, that's a totally different movie. Um, but that shot though reminded me of that with like the blood coming out where it's like they're not showing you but they're showing you, you know? And it was really cool. I really like that stuff. Um, I think that, uh, the one guy, the big dude with the beard and stuff He looks so popular or famous to me, but I couldn't quite pinpoint it. Was he like, uh, was he somebody? I think he's been in like other stuff as a bit actor and stuff, but, uh, not that I know of. He just, he has that look where he belonged in this movie, by the way. He has an aura.
1:12:57 Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. He, he's got that thing where he It's like he was made to be in this movie for sure. I just, um, you know, Nick will get this. Maybe Dave will too. Brandon, you won't. But you know what this movie, or this theater, is missing for this movie? What's that? Fog machine. I should have brought the fog machine for it, man. Yeah, how did you not think of it until now? Seriously, how cool would this movie be in a room full of fog. Oh yeah, it worked for Sleepy Hollow when I did that at my house and stuff. But that's how, Brandon, uh, that's how I would screen movies at my house. I would bring a fog machine out and fog up the whole entire room, and then we'd watch movies. But anyway, get back. That sounds awesome. It's fun. Um, and I love the smell. But, uh, but yeah, I'm just really, really impressed with this, Nick. I'm, I'm Because when you said we were watching Werewolf by Night, I, I don't mind. I, I actually like Marvel movies. A lot of them are goddamn terrible, but, um, some of them are quite good. And this is definitely one of the latter. Like, this is definitely one of the really good ones.
1:14:15 Did you make Lauren watch it? I did not. Ah, I was hoping she would have seen her 4th Marvel movie. Hang on, because of me, I just looked something up and, and this is amazing about the, the the guy who plays the Scottish hunter. Kirk Thatcher, right? He was in Star Trek IV, the punk on the bus that is playing the punk music. And that was, fun fact, that was his band and everything like that that's playing the song that they say to turn off and he gets the Vulcan neck pinch. But because he's a producer, like he was a producer on that movie and everything. So like that's majority of what he does, but he's a longtime friend of Michael Cecchino. He also wrote Muppet Treasure Island. Wow, okay, like this guy's amazing. I was also looking upâ well, when Jack was asking, and it looks like he's directed a bunch of Marvelâ or not Marvel, Muppets specials, uh, that I've never even heard of. Oh, so that's probablyâ that's more recent ones.
1:15:19 That's probably why I took to him, because he likes good stuff. I saw he did voices for, uh, Gremlins as well. Oh nice, co-producer on Dinosaurs. Yeah, he's also in Spider-Man: Homecoming playing Punk on Street, which means he's in 2 Marvel movies. But heâ itâ I, I don't even know, is he playing the same Punk on Street from Star Trek IV that he then later played in Star Trek: Picard? Maybe you just unlocked something. There we go. That's uncovering the Marvel backrooms. That's why everybody comes to Stargirl Video, for beautiful trivia like this that they can repeat somewhere else.
1:16:01 Oh, goddamn it. Yeah, dude, um, I justâ this movie felt like a freakingâ it justâ I don't know, man. It definitelyâ it's a good pick for Halloween. It's perfect for Halloween. Because it's not a Halloween movie, but it has that aesthetic, and it's not long enough to make you start hating it, right? That's the best part, because like, dude, so many movies are like, why is this movie still going on? How is there still 40 minutes left? And I mean every movie, not just Marvel movies, not just blockbusters, anything I watch on fucking streaming, I'm like How the fuck were the greatest movies of all time from the '80s that everybody loves and agrees upon all like 2 hours or less? Like, you know, anyâ most of the Star Wars movies, the Indiana Jones movies, and fucking like, uh, the Back to the Future and all that, right? Like universally objectively good movies, and all these movies are shorter than 2 hours. And I'm not saying that there should never be a 2-hour-long or more movie. There should be.
1:17:10 But so many of them could just cut a bunch of it, just be 89 minutes long, and I will like your movie extra. And a lot of older movies too, Nick. Like, a lot of older movies went into like 90, barely would scrape over 100, maybe 110 at most. Yeah, not to mention some are just an hour long, you know. Yeah, a lot, a lot of the Universal movies are very short. You're right. Yeah, a lot of those Mummy sequels are like an hour long. Like Dracula, like not much happens in, in the original Dracula, you know what I mean? It's fucking great. Yeah, I wasâ had it on a little the other day, in fact. I like it, and I, I, I, I, I don't get it. I don't get why movies are so bloated. I actually saw the movie that I think might be the worst movie I've seen this year so far. Um, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, that one.
1:18:03 Oh, oh, oh, so Jack, maybe watch it. Save it. Yeah, I'm not talking about that one. No, that wasn't from this year though. I'm talking about a movie that came out this year, uh, that happened to be on streaming, which is Disclosure Day. And it wasâ remember how I said I fell asleep during, uh, Mando and Grogu and I was like pretty displeased? This is so farâ I apologize to Mando. Like, this movie was so fucking bad and I can't even believe it. It's a Steven Spielberg movie and I watched it and I was just like What the fuck is goingâ they, they aren't even trying in this movie. And then it goes on for 2 hours and 25 minutes. Goddamn it. And I had to watch it, and I was like, I'm just gonna watch it because I need to know what is gonna happen in this movie. And then whatever happened was really stupid and sad, and I didn't like it. See, that's why Tarantino wants to retire after his nextâ he doesn't want to reach that point. Yeah, it's like, yeah, like, that's what he's talking about. I don't know if anybody's like seen latter-day John Carpenter movies, but they were so bad. And it's like, how is this the same guy who made, you know, um, the good movies? So I mean, it's the same with like Ridley Scott too. Like, I think he'sâ I think he's still sharp atâ in his 90s, but the movies aren't as good. Like, why did we need Gladiator 2?
1:19:22 Like, well, spoiler for Gladiator 2, a good chunk of the movie, it's basically like, it's basically like the Homer feedback about what he wants to do to fix Poochie on The Simpsons. It's like they're just like, where's Maximus? What happened to Maximus? Like, they just are constantly referencing how good the first movie is. And I'm like, why? You, you make your own damn movie. You have, you have Denzel Washington right here. Like, what the hell are you doing? And I think that's like just something that happens. I haven't seen like Dog Stars or any of the other later Ridley Scott stuff. But, you know, it, it's the same kind of thing. Like, I think the lastâ there's probably another couple movies in there that he made, but like the last great movie he made was probably like Kingdom of Heaven: The Director's Cut, which is a 4-hour movie that is okay to be 4 hours, but not other movies. I, I am equally as worried about, uh, Spaceballs 2, which, you know, isn't coming out till next year. Will Mel Brooks make it? Probably shouldn't even make that joke. What if he drops dead before the movie?
1:20:27 Considering history of Part 2 was, uh, yeah, I'm, yeah, I'm sad I watched that. Forgot that existed. But yeah, I didn't watch it, man. So I'm sorry, go ahead. One thing about this movie I want to mention too is the violence. I'm really glad that they went there, like, with the, with the violence rather than, you know, not showing any blood or anything. And it's also cool, like, question though, Um, Dave, you said you saw this in color, right? I, I saw it originally in black and white, and then a year later they had the color version come out. Yeah. Okay, so the colorâ did theyâ was the bloodâ the blood obviously is going to be red in the colored version, but this looked like the chocolate syrup blood. It, it definitely feels likeâ I mean, the way they color corrected it feels like, I guess, I want to say old blood, if that makes sense. It doesn't feel like modern blood. Okay.
1:21:26 All right, cool. Yeah, man, like, I, I suggest you watch it in color because I think you would appreciate just theâ I, I appreciate a good color correction pass that like is really well done and captures aâ I think it creates a different feel for it, right? Even though it's the same exact movie and nothing else changes. Yeah, I mean, I would compare it to the, um, the, the coloring in it is similar to like Um, I want to say like the Spider-Noir episodes. Um, not entirely, but like, itâ Spider-Noir was the TV show that came out on Amazon, also Marvel related, starring Nicolas Cage as the noir version of Spider-Man. And, um, it was on this summer.
1:22:10 I think everyone forgot it even happened, but the black and white episodes look cool, but the color ones, uh, for that look even better. But like, this movie is in color, so colorful compared to other movies, especially Marvel movies, which are kind of famously drained of color. But all movies are fucking drained of color these days, and the colored version of this movie is fucking cool to look at. Um, even though I prefer it in black and white, I still reallyâ I, I feel like it's like another, another reason to watch it. I mean, shit, it's only like 50 minutes long. You can watch it twice. And it's, you know, Iâ it also, like, I'mâ I put it up on my other screen right now as I'm describing it to you, and like, there's parts where there are like lightning powers being thrown at someone, and it looks like the, the CGI that they use is reminiscent of like when they use lightning effects in older movies from like the '80s, like Hellraiser, where they actually like drew on the film to make lightning effects and stuff. Like, it doesn't look like bad, ugly CGI.
1:23:12 It looks cool. A fun little, fun little story. Iâ they might have, they might have done a variation of something like that because in the documentary where they're making it, they talk about how Michael Giacchino, um, was filming someone waving around what was supposed to be a lightsaber and he scratched the film to make the lighting effects. Like literally scratched it frame by frame to make like this. And they showed it and I'm like, oh, that's pretty clever considering like the you know, like the lengths you had to go to to make that. So it's very possible that there's some of that was older techniques. Um, I actually think the color version, or that you could do the black and white version and do like, uh, like a Schindler's List element where like, I don't know, the color red was done in, you know, like the bloodstone and blood was done in red. Like, I wouldâ that would be kind of a cool pass I could see on this, and I, I would watch it again if they did something like that.
1:24:07 Goddamn. Yeah, that was awesome. Yes. Goddamn. Well, I guessâ is that everything, Nick? Um, I guess. Uh, I mean, I just really like this movie a lot, and I hope that people actually watch it. If you're one of those people that's like, it's like Marvel movies, uh, you can watch this one. Shut the fuck up. Quit being an asshole and just watch this one. It's fucking great. Uh, you know, um, yeah, I'm not a Marvel fan and I enjoyed it. So there you go. Yeah, same here. Like, I'm not like, you know, I watched every damn Marvel movie a couple years ago. I just went through all of them. I'm like, I'm just gonna get the fucking 4Ks and watch them straight through. I think that's a horrible way to experience it. It was. I'll tell you this though, I betterâ when you had to wait like 6 to 8 months between them. Yeah, I mean, it was cool, but at the same time I'm like, god damn it. When Endgame was over, I'm like, all right, I'm done, I'm good. That's the best place to bow out. There's some great stuff after that, but it'sâ it starts to get uneven, and then you're like, was that a good movie? Yeah, I don't think that was a good movie.
1:25:19 Like, right, as much as I wanted to love, like, for example, say Multiverse of Madness because it's Sam Sam Raimi, and I'm like, oh, Sam Raimi's doing this movie, it's gonna be great. There's some cool scenes, but man, it's just like, it's just, it's too long. Yeah, but I mean, I, and I wanted more Pizza Papa. But you know, um, there, there are good things that have come out that, you know, after Endgame, but like, it's not a lot. Like, I could not possibly tell you to sit there and watch movies like just to get the continuity, and especially The TV shows have been majority awful. The Loki show is like an exception. I wouldâ Loki show was good, good enough toâ that I made it through theâ to the end, and I appreciated the end. Whereas like any other show of theirs, I get to the end and I'm like, I hate these characters more now, thanks.
1:26:07 I, I said I'm a huge Daredevil fan. I can't get through the TV show. I find it too dull and boring. Well, so the original show or theâ or the newâ the Born Again? I never got through the original and the new one, I'm still like, I'm, I'm just getting bored watching it. I agree. I only got through like part of the second season of the original Netflix Daredevil. I couldn't really watch it. And I couldâ same thing with like Jessica Jones. I could only watch like one season of it. And I'm like, me too. I don't want to watchâ the first season was great, and then there was no reason to watch more beyond that. And like, um, I got through all of Daredevil actually. Well, you see, you're a fucking nerd. I am. But now it was A tense ending, I'll say that. But what I'll also say is, like, I think that also speaks toâ I know people that are huge Marvel fans, and they just will consume anything and then kind of give it a pass. And I don't have that connection with all of Marvel. Like, I just don't.
1:27:01 I have that connection with Star Wars that I probably am more likely to give something a pass than I would say with Marvel. Like Mando. Like Mando. Like, I'm willing to like see past it and enjoy specific things because I have seen Attack of the Clones, and no matter what you say, it is not a good movie. And anyone that says it has interesting story, Star Wars universe, whatever you want to say, it's not a good movie. All right, I willâ I could go on for 30 minutes talking about how that is a fucking terrible movie. Yeah, hate that one. Come at me, prequels lovers. Like, come at me. Like, it's worse. There's only maybe one sequel movie that is worse than Attack of the Clones. And I really enjoy the characters in Attack of the Clones. So fuck off. No, Nick could unlock the nerd in me. So he's popping. Wow.
1:27:52 That'sâ yeah, everybody's gonna getâ everybody in their 70s is gonna get that reference. And we shouldn't probably talk about that movie because it doesn't really hold up by modern standards anymore. I'll getâ I'll get the laugh. The laugh gets a pass. That was a tribute because he did just pass away. He did pass away. That goes out to Robert Carradine. Anyway, he was good in The Big Red One. I wanted to go back to talking about a little bit of comic book stuff. I am very good at like repressing my nerd past on things. Like, I'm looking at my list of my top 20 movies on Flickchart.com where I've been charting my movies for the past like 20 years, and like there's not an MCU movie in there. No, wait, Spider-Man, the original from 2022, is in there, and that only became an MCU movie when it got folded in later. So, uh, you know, I'm pretty good atâ second one's better than the first one. Nope. Well, personally, Michael Keaton's performance in that is probably the best of his career. Oh, oh, we're not talking about Homecoming. He's talking about Tobey Maguire. I do also like Homecoming a whole lot. Oh yeah, okay. If I could recommend some that have happened after Endgame though, you can watch Shang-Chi, and it's also not related to almost anything else in the other movies, and it is a pretty good standalone martial arts, you know, magical martial arts, uh, movie that probably is a little too long at parts, but,
1:29:23 uh, probably also one of the best MCU movies that have come out past, uh, 7 years. I wouldâ I obviously recommend Werewolf by Night. I don't know if there are any others that I recommend that have come out since 2019, like, that I could recommend to anybody and be like, no, no, this is a good movie, you don't have to worry that it's a Marvel thing, or even otherwise. Like, like, yeah, sure, Multiverse of Madness was okay, except for the fact that the most mad universe they go to isâ what do you mean green means stop and red means go? This place is crazy. Uh, but you know, um, like, what other ones? What otherâ see, the fact that I can't even remember what other Fantastic Four is style over substance. If you can ignore the story problems in it, youâ and you enjoy mid-century modern, like, production design, it, like, it kills that part. Butâ and it's the best Fantastic Four movie that they've made, which is saying something. Yeah, I mean, I likeâ it's not saying much, I guess, actually, because technically the other ones were dog shit. So I'll say Deadpool and Wolverine I also enjoyed. I didn't like the last one. I thought thatâ that I liked the first Deadpool, second one was okay, third one I, I didn't like. Only be like, I thought it was okay, but I thought it was overlong, like you were talking about things being long, and too many references throughout. The entire movie.
1:30:50 Oh, but it also had Blade in it. I'm sorry, my favorite MCU movies. Well, yeah, that was cool. There were a couple moments, man. I just played on PS2 the entire Ghost Rider game because if you beat Ghost Rider, you could play as Blade. I do a lot for Blade. So Blade isâ Blade is, uh, one of my favorite movies of all time. And that one is also only through retrocausality an MCU movie. Some motherfucker's always trying to skate uphill. I was gonna say it, but it's fine, it's fine. You got it. Let's talk about Blade on this show someday. I'll add it to the list because I love that movie. Brandon, did you ever hear my Blade story?
1:31:31 But we're not watching the third one. Fuck off on that one. Oh yeah, I didn't say that. I didn't say that we ain't watching that one. When I first saw Blade, I didn't like it. Because it was a circumstantial thing. Went into an extremely dark theater with my friends, and one of my friends, he just had this like Danny DeVito body where it's like a roly-poly guy. And it's one of those theaters that like you can't see your hand in front of your face kind of thing. Yeah. He's walking down the aisle and And, uh, he's sitting in front of us and we're likeâ his name was, uh, Domâ and we're like, Dom, you all right?
1:32:15 And he's like, yeah, yeah, I can't see. Yeah, yeah. And all I see is body falling over. His body goes down, popcorn flies up, and then looking, and it's just like the shadow of popcorn flying up, right? So afterwards, I, I rushed and got him ice for his knee, and he's, you know, sitting there in his chair, and it's like, oh God, like that. And my 2 friends that are sitting next to him are laughing. All I see is their heads bouncing up and down like Muppets, laughing hysterically, like the 2 old guys. Yeah. And throughout the entire movie, I couldn't stop laughing. And then when we got home to my friend's house. He was sitting there holding his knee. My friend and I went out for a smoke, and then we came back in. And as soon as we came in, we just went and ran back outside, and we couldn't stop laughing for more hours. Um, so after that had happened, I was like, I really didn't like Blade until the DVD came out.
1:33:21 I bought the DVD because it was a big, you know, Buco special edition. And I sat down and watched it again, and I'm like, this movie's fucking awesome. That son of a bitch ruined my first viewing of Blade. So I love Blade, and I like Blade 2. Blade Trinity can go fuck itself though. Isn't that the one with Triple H in it? Yes, and Ryan Reynolds. Yeah, time to play the game. Oh my God, when she's likeâ it's also got the guy, uh, with Dominic Purcell, right, is the bad the villain in that and he's terrible. Yeah, uh, what's his name from, um, Best in Show and stuff, um, was in it as well, right?
1:34:02 Eugene Levy? No. Hey, Blade! So Blade. I'm just gonna go Christopher Guest, but it's not right. You see, Levy is the villain in Blade where he's like, now Blade, this, this magazine is called Shaved. Marvel's Dracula. Oh, goddamn it, why am I blanking on this dude's name? I gotta look it up. Hang on a second. It's not, it's not Michael Hitchcock. What the fuck's his name? Now Wesley, it's It's a smart idea to pay your taxes. John Michael Higgins. That's who it is, John Michael Higgins. That's it. Yes.
1:34:52 Um, I was surprised to see him in it, but yeah, Ryan Reynolds was like, what the fuck's her name when she's blind and she's listening to the fucking iPod and starts killing people to an iPod song? Like, come on. Oh wow, I forgot it also has Parker Posey in it as well. So it has 2 Christopher Guest Like they were, they were, you know, that's something they could do between Christopher Guest movies, I suppose. Yeah, my, my buddy Tom, who visited the store before, was like, when I came out, he worked at the theater, and he's like, you got to see Blade Trinity. I said, really? He goes, yeah, you got to see it. Then I watched it and I talked to him. I said, Tom, he goes, what? I said, don't ever fucking suggest another movie to me ever again. That was fucking horrible. He's like, Yeah, but it was cool, right? I'm like, no, it was fucking horrible.
1:35:39 It's one of the worst movies I've seen. Ah, it was so mad. But that was fun. But Blade is awesome, Nick. Yeah, yeah, glad we watched it for the show. We did it. We watched Werewolf by Night. Maybe we can do a Blade night. What do you think? Like 3 people left in this theater. It's on the list. Okay, it's on the list. All right, cool. I'm down for that. It's been a while. It's been a while. Uh, so the listâ who's, who's got the next movie? Oh yes, that's a good question. That is David. David, what's gonna be your pick for next week? Well, uh, I figured I'd do an abrupt U-turn from spooky season and, uh, I would pick Road Racers from 1994, Robert Rodriguez's second movie.
1:36:31 Oh my God. Wow. Okay. Road Racers. I know you love that movie. So I do love that movie. You know how many times I've watched Road Racers? Zero. I have the Blu-ray, but I haven't watched it. Wow. Dave pulling out one that Jack has never seen. I've never heard of such a thing happening in the past. It might be one of those moments where I may, may have watched it and then totally blanked on it. But I remember the blueâ that the COVID to it, it is not fucking Sin City, despite what you might think if you look at the damn poster for it, where it's the color dress and black and white background. And it is not Sin City or Pleasantville. So justâ they just were like, oh well, Robert Rodriguez did Sin City, so let's just make this a Sin City cover. So I have not seen it either. So cool. Well, I remember, uh, Omaha Jack's first movie, David Arquette, uh, William Sadler.
1:37:32 William Sadler. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a whole backstory which I'll, uh, let y'allâ I'll let you relive, uh, next, next, next time. Tune in next time. Dave, say, where the fuck did you find this poster? Sorry. Meanwhile, so we fucking done here? Yeah, we're done here. Yes. All right, all right, let's getâ let's get out of here. And, um, I'm not cleaning up the Haunted Isles, soâ no, no, no, I got all the volunteers doing that shit tonight. We, we gotta take the night off. I'm justâ Crystal could do it when she's done.
1:38:13 Oliver said he would. Crystal probably already went home. She, she hates me, but I don't blame her. We all hate you, we just tolerate you. I know. Well, that's because I'm holding you all hostage. They can't seeâ they can't see them. You can't see the, uhâ you think I'm gonna find another job in this economy? Yeah, yeah, the toy soldiers are the best thing I could find was a place that would stock toy soldiers, man. All right. Yes, yes, Brandon, we're leaving. Mr. Fucking Cranky Pants.
1:38:53 Somebody's gottaâ it's a school night for Brandon. It is, actually.
